The Sanctuary Journey: The Descent
A guided Fall and Winter journey of release, clarity, and returning to what is true
This isn't something you add to your life.
It changes how you move through the life you already have.
THERE ARE TIMES IN LIFE WHEN THINGS BEGIN TO QUIET
Not always on the outside.
But inside.
What once felt clear starts to soften.
What you have been carrying begins to feel heavier.
What used to work does not land the same way anymore.
Something in you knows it is time to slow down.
But no one taught you how.
YOU MAY RECOGNIZE YOURSELF HERE
• You start the day already feeling behind
• You question things you thought were settled
• You feel more inward, more sensitive, more aware
• You try to move forward, but something in you pulls back
• You sense something is shifting, but you cannot name it yet
• You are tired of pushing, but you do not know how to stop
Nothing is wrong.
You are not lost.
You are not falling apart.
You are in a part of the cycle most women were never taught how to recognize.
THE DESCENT
The inward arc of the cycle
This is where life naturally asks you to:
• slow down and feel more deeply
• release what is complete
• sit with what has not yet resolved
• listen beneath the surface
• loosen your grip on what no longer fits
• let what is done fall away
• compost what has been lived
• return to what is true
• prepare for what will later emerge
Some of this feels heavy.
Some of this feels like relief.
Both belong here.
This is where truth surfaces.
Where clarity begins to form.
Where something more honest starts to take root.
This is where women begin to recognize what they are carrying.
And learn to stop pushing forward too quickly.
Life takes you through these seasons anyway.
This is a way of walking them with awareness.
MOST WOMEN TRY TO MOVE THROUGH THIS PART OF LIFE IN THE WRONG DIRECTION
They push forward.
They try to fix it.
They look for answers too quickly.
And in doing so, they lose their footing.
The Descent is not a problem to solve. It is a season to walk.
And there is a way to walk it that changes everything.
THE SANCTUARY JOURNEY: THE DESCENT
A guided Fall and Winter journey held across the inward seasons of the cycle
This is not about stepping out of your life. This is about meeting your life differently.
The Sanctuary Journey: The Descent is a guided seasonal journey that helps you recognize the cycles you are already moving through, so you can stop fighting your life and begin walking with more clarity, awareness, steadiness, wisdom, and self-trust.
This is not a course you add to an already full plate.
This is not more content to keep up with.
This is a different way of relating to the life you are already living.
THERE IS NOTHING HERE TO KEEP UP WITH
You do not fall behind.
You do not get it wrong.
This work moves with you.
This work happens inside your real life, not outside of it.
You are not carving out hours you do not have.
You are learning how to meet what is already happening differently.
You do not need more time.
You need a different relationship with the time you are already in.

A more spacious way to enter the journey
THIS WORK MAY RESONATE IF YOU
• feel deeply connected to nature, cycles, and the unseen layers of life
• sense there is more happening beneath the surface than can be explained logically
• are drawn to ritual, symbolism, and meaning as lived experience
• have explored your inner world and want something that meets you there
• are not looking to be fixed, but to understand yourself more honestly
• want sacred community without pressure or performance
THIS MAY NOT BE FOR YOU IF
• you want step-by-step answers or guaranteed outcomes
• you prefer structured, linear learning with clear deliverables
• you are looking for someone to tell you what to do
This is not about exclusion. It is about honest invitation.
I want you to feel seen, recognized, and to know that you are in the right place.
YOU BEGIN TO NOTICE MORE ALIGNMENT IN YOUR LIFE
Not because you are taking on more.
But because you begin to see more clearly.
And that changes the way you move through your life.
Women inside this journey notice:
• they stop second-guessing themselves constantly
• they understand where they are instead of trying to fix it
• they do not push when life is asking them to slow
• they feel steadier, even when things are unclear
• they trust their own timing instead of comparing themselves to others
• they begin to recognize the difference between forcing and flowing
HOW THE JOURNEY UNFOLDS
This is a seasonal experience we walk together in real time.
You are not moving through a checklist.
You are moving through your life with awareness, rhythm, and support.
THE DIRECTION WE WALK
This journey follows the natural movement of life through the inward arc of the cycle.
Not as something to learn.
As something you are already living.
We begin in the West.
Where things begin to loosen, soften, and fall away.
Where you start to see more clearly what has shaped you and what is ready to be released.
From there, we move into the North.
Where everything grows quieter.
Where what has surfaced begins to settle.
Where you learn how to hold what is true without rushing to change it.
These are the natural inward directions of the yearly cycle we all move through on the ever-turning Wheel of Life.
You will not always feel aligned with the outer season around you.
That is not a problem.
This is about recognizing where you are, so you can move with it instead of against it.
WESTGATE
A Fall Journey of Composting, Clarity, and Courage
The Westgate is the place of descent. Of truth telling. Of inner composting and honest reckoning.
This is the season when life asks you to see more clearly what you have been carrying. To begin setting down what is no longer yours to hold. To loosen your grip on what is finished, even when it still feels familiar. To prepare yourself for the deeper quiet of winter.
The darkness here is not a problem to solve. It is a place of listening.
Westgate moves through three phases:
Phase One: Entering the Descent
Slowing down. Softening. Beginning to notice what has been drawing you inward. Recognizing where you are exhausted from striving or performing. Gently turning your attention toward what feels unresolved, what wants to be seen, what has been quietly waiting.
The central question of this phase: What is calling me inward right now?
Phase Two: Weaving with the Shadow
Moving beyond reflection and into embodiment. Symbolic creation. Deeper truth-telling. A living relationship with the hidden aspects of yourself. This is the emotional and creative heart of Westgate.
Women discover that when you stop running from what is difficult and instead give it form, something in the pressure softens. What was suffocating begins to move. What felt like a wall becomes a threshold.
Phase Three: Returning With Wisdom
Integration. Reclamation. Meaning-making. The relationship with darkness begins to shift from fear toward companionship, from confusion toward wisdom, from avoidance toward trust.
You are not returning the same. You are returning wiser.
At the center of the Westgate is the Winter Solstice, the deepest point of the descent. A sacred pause. A threshold between darkness and the slow return of light. Here we do not rush insight or transformation. We hold what has surfaced gently and trust the timing.
The darkness is not empty. It is a womb space.
Archetypal Guides of the Westgate
Two inner archetypal presences walk with you through the Westgate.
They are not roles to perform. They are parts of you already present.
Skeleton Woman | West
She is the one who has walked through loss, sat with shadows, and emerged radiant, not in spite of the pain, but through it.
She does not flinch from grief or decay. She knows the beauty of the descent. She gathers what has been scattered. She breathes over broken parts.
She transforms loss into medicine, sorrow into clarity, and absence into a doorway.
She holds the threshold between who you were and who you are becoming. She does not rush. She does not smooth things over.
She whispers: even here, you are sacred.
The Thread Weaver | Companion
She is the pattern-seer. The spiral inward.
The one who gathers the scattered threads of your story and listens until the shape appears. She does not force clarity. She waits.
She traces meaning across time and helps you see what has been true all along, even when it was hidden beneath the noise.
She is soul-kin to the Fates, the Norns, the great sister weavers of time.
She reminds you that the threads of your life are not random.
They are holy. And wholeness is something you weave, not wait for.
NORTHGATE
A Winter Journey of Steadiness, Integration, and Holding What Is True
Northgate is where transformation stabilizes.
What Westgate revealed, Northgate teaches you to hold. Not to analyze, not to fix, not to rush into resolution, but to carry with steadiness, with grace, with an inner spine strong enough to remain present inside what is true.
The metaphor of Northgate is moving beneath the waves. The world may feel stormy above the surface. But Northgate invites you to go deeper, beneath the noise, into a quieter place where you can listen, orient, and strengthen what holds you.
Northgate moves through three phases:
Phase One: Beneath the Surface
Arriving. Settling. Orienting to your inner reference point. Learning the difference between alignment, the felt sense of this is true, this feels like myself, and dis-alignment, the places where something in you is at war. This phase helps you locate yourself on the Wheel and begin moving from that honest place.
Phase Two: Holding What Is True
This is the heart of Northgate. Integration. Discernment. Inner authority. Working with the guiding archetypes of the season. Learning to recognize truth without urgency, hold clarity without defensiveness, and make choices from steadiness rather than reaction.
Phase Three: Carrying the Medicine Forward
Quiet readiness. Giving form to what has settled. Learning to live differently without forcing emergence. The Descent ends not with a dramatic conclusion, but with a woman standing at the edge of something new, steadier than before, and unhurried.
Core Teachings Women Return To Again and Again:
Your North Star
Your North Star is not a destination and it is not a goal. It is a reference point. It is the honest reflection of where you actually are right now, what you are carrying, what feels unresolved, and what helps you orient when life feels uncertain. This teaching helps women locate themselves inside their own lives instead of measuring themselves against an imagined place they are supposed to be.
Holy Order
Not control. Not perfection. Not rigid structure.
Holy Order is the alignment between your inner world and the visible shape of your life. When Holy Order is present, life feels clearer, steadier, lighter, more peaceful. When it is absent, even small things feel heavy: unfinished conversations, loose ends, spaces that drain rather than restore, decisions that have been avoided too long.
This teaching explores four gateways of Holy Order: your environment, your relationships, your agreements, and your inner life. It is one of the most talked-about experiences in the entire Descent journey, and women return to it long after the course has ended.
When Life Feels Heavy
Northgate is a still place. And when life becomes still, we do not just meet peace. We begin to feel what has been sitting underneath the surface. There is a dedicated teaching inside Northgate for the heaviness, the low motivation, the resistance that can arise in deep winter. You will not be left alone with it. You will be taught how to stay with it without collapsing, and how to find the one small thing that brings steadiness back.
Archetypal Guides of the Northgate
Two inner archetypal presences walk with you through the Northgate.
They are not roles to perform. They are parts of you already present.
The Bone Keeper | North
She is the one who walks slowly so nothing gets forgotten.
She carries the memory of what came before and listens for the truths that still matter.
She teaches that wisdom is not only mental. It lives in the bones, the spine, the hips, the body. Without bones, the body cannot stand. Without the deeper framework that holds a life upright, we risk becoming scattered, overwhelmed, and pulled away from what truly matters.
The Bone Keeper helps you ask: What is solid enough to build from? What remains? What is truly essential?
She is the quiet keeper of winter's deep knowing, and she belongs to the North completely.
Medicine Woman | Companion
She is not just a healer. She is a vessel, a bridge, a conduit for what wants to come through.
She listens in silence. She touches without pushing.
She reminds you that true medicine is not always about doing more. It is about remembering, restoring, and returning to what is already whole within.
Without Bone Keeper, Medicine Woman can become overwhelmed and over-giving.
Without Medicine Woman, Bone Keeper can become rigid and austere.
Together they create the medicine of Northgate: strength and compassion. Structure and presence. Truth held with care.
THE FULL CYCLE
There is a larger rhythm to this work.
The Sanctuary Journey is held in two seasonal containers.
Together, they form a complete cycle.
The Descent | Fall and Winter
The inward movement of release, listening, and truth
The Emergence | Spring and Summer
The outward movement of clarity, energy, and expression
Each journey stands fully on its own.
And together, they reflect the natural rhythm of the Medicine Wheel of Life.
The Descent is a time to move inward.
The Emergence is a time to bring what is forming into the light.
Most women try to live only in forward movement.
Without descent, there is nothing real to bring forward.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
Right now, we are entering the Descent.
The inward arc of the cycle aligned with the Fall and Winter seasons.
This is a complete journey in itself.
You do not need to think beyond it.
You simply begin here.
THE MEDICINE SPIRIT DOLL
At the heart of this journey is your Medicine Spirit Doll
She is not a craft project.
She is not a decoration.
She is a mirror.
Made by hand. Shaped by your inner world.
Carrying what you are ready to remember about yourself.
What Is A Medicine Spirit Doll?
She has been with women for a very long time.
Across cultures and centuries, women have made figures from what the earth offered them. Cloth and clay. Bone and wool. Root and fiber. Not as decoration. As medicine.
As a way of making the invisible visible.
As a way of saying: this is what I am carrying. This is what I am releasing. This is who I am becoming.
The Medicine Doll is that ancient practice, alive again in your hands.
She is a vessel for your prayers. A container for your grief. A mirror for your truth.
A companion for the becoming.
She holds what words sometimes cannot.
She Is Faceless By Design
Every Medicine Doll I design is left intentionally faceless.
She is not yours to define in advance. She is yours to meet.
You will see yourself in her. You will know what she is here for. She takes on the face, the energy, and the meaning of the woman she is made for. No two dolls are the same. Because no two women are the same.
The colors and textures are chosen not by preference but by listening. The adornments are often gathered from nature, offered rather than purchased. She is not forced into shape. She is followed. She reveals herself as a one-of-a-kind expression of something real and rising.
This is how your doll wants to be made too. Not forced. Followed.
What She Is For
Women bring her to their altar. They place her where they will see her in the morning. They hold her when words fail.
They make her in the middle of a season of change and find, somehow, that the making helped.
She has been used for grief tending and intention setting. For shadow work and ancestral healing. For rites of passage and quiet companionship on a sacred path.
She is not a solution. She is a presence.
And sometimes, presence is exactly the medicine.
How She Comes To Life In The Descent
Inside this journey, your Medicine Spirit Doll is made through needle felting, the practice of shaping wool fibers by hand using barbed needles until they bind together into form.
It is slow work. Quiet work. Repetitive in the way that prayer is repetitive.
Through your hands, she takes shape slowly over the Fall and Winter months. Her form, her colors, her textures all carry meaning. She is not made to be perfect. She is made to be true.
The process of making her is as much of the medicine as the doll herself.
Women often say that what shifts for them happens not while they are thinking about the work, but while their hands are in the wool.
You do not need prior felting experience. Step-by-step video tutorials guide you gently through every stage of the process. You will be held.
Women in the United States will have the option to purchase a specially designed Medicine Doll Felting Kit created specifically for this journey. This is a separate, optional purchase. Details will be provided after enrollment.
If you already have your own felting supplies, a materials list will be provided so you can gather what you need independently.
Please Note: If needle felting is truly not your medium, you are still warmly welcomed here. Women have brought the Medicine Doll to life through painting, sculpting, collage, and mixed media. The soul of the work lives in your hands and your intention, whatever form that takes. Needle felting is the heart of how this journey is taught, but we welcome other forms of expression as well.
The process matters more than the medium.
THE WISE ONE LIVES IN YOU
There is a woman inside you who already knows.
She is your instinct. Your bone-deep knowing.
Your voice that will not stay quiet no matter how many times you have tried to quiet it.
She wears many names.
The Wild Woman. The Witch. The Medicine Woman.
Maiden, Mother, Crone.
The Grandmother. The Shadow Worker.
The Untamed One.
She is the boundary and the tenderness.
The rooted power and the open hand.
She is not asking to be added to your life.
She is asking to be remembered in it.
The Medicine Doll is how you remember her.
“This was a journey into my own heart and soul. Jerri’s guidance helped me feel deeply connected, not only to my inner, creative self but to something much bigger.
I felt a shift in my energy as I moved from numbing grief and overwhelm into a space of healing, empowerment, and renewal. The process has been grounding, beautiful, and exactly what I needed to feel reconnected with myself in a way I never expected.
If you feel called to this journey, trust that it will meet you exactly where you are and lead you to where you need to be.”
TALKING CIRCLES
You are not doing this alone. Each week, we gather in the Sanctuary Talking Circle.
Not to fix. But to witness.
You speak what is real. You listen without interruption.
You are seen without being changed.
These circles deepen the work in a way that cannot happen on your own.
They are the living heartbeat of the journey.
Attendance is optional. Recordings are available.
Listening is participation. Silence is welcome.
THIS IS A SOLO JOURNEY AND A SHARED SPACE
This is your work.
No one can do it for you.
And something powerful happens when you walk it alongside others who are doing the same.
THE SANCTUARY CIRCLE
Over the past three years, women have returned to this work again and again.
Not because they are trying to finish something. But because something meaningful happens when you walk these cycles with awareness, honesty, and community.
This journey has always been deeply hands-on and relational. Not distant teaching. Not passive content. A lived space we enter together.
Over time, a beautiful core community of women has formed here. We call it the Sanctuary Circle.
These women have:
• witnessed one another through life transitions
• formed genuine friendships
• shared truth without performance or pressure
• learned how to listen deeply and speak honestly
• created a space of warmth, respect, and presence together
There is something profoundly healing about being in a space where nothing needs to be fixed. Only witnessed. Only honored. Only allowed to be true.
“This journey met me at the exact moment I needed it most.
I did not realize how much I was still carrying until I began creating the Medicine Doll.
Every step helped me let go. Every circle felt like a sacred mirror.
I have never felt more witnessed or more myself.”
“This is not just a course. It is a soul space.
The way the seasons, the archetypes, and the creative work are woven together is life changing.
My Medicine Doll now sits on my altar as a daily reminder of who I am becoming.”
THIS IS NOT A PLACE WHERE YOU COME TO FIX YOURSELF
You are not here to improve yourself, perform growth, or become someone new. You are here to learn how to stay with yourself.
From there, your life begins to shift. Not through force. Through clarity. Through honest self-knowing. Through the kind of steadiness that cannot be manufactured from the outside.
You will recognize this because you feel it in your bones.
MEET YOUR GUIDE
Jerri Lynn Shelton
Medicine Dollmaker. Earth Medicine Practitioner. Creator of SoulCraft Art.
She found me before I found her.
I did not set out to become a Medicine Dollmaker. I set out to heal myself. The doll came as part of that. As a mirror. As a messenger. As the part of me that knew things my mind and courage was not yet ready to say out loud.
I made my first Medicine Doll over sixteen years ago. I have not stopped since.
The first time a woman held one of my dolls and began to cry, I understood. This was not mine to keep. She looked at that doll and saw herself. Not the self she performed for the world, but the self she had been quietly tending in the dark. The self that had survived things. The self that was still becoming.
That moment changed everything.
I began teaching Medicine Doll making in person, in circles, in workshops, in retreats. Sixteen years of women sitting around tables with wool and needles and something tender and unfinished in their hands.
What I witnessed again and again was not women making craft projects. It was women remembering themselves.
I am not here to fix you. You are not broken. You do not need to be fixed.
You need a mirror and a space where you can exhale and remember what has always been true about you. My role is to create that space. To ask the right questions. To hold steady while you find your own answers.
Because the answers do not live in my courses or my archetypes or my dolls.
They live in you.
The Medicine Doll is simply how we self express and make them visible.
This work is rooted in Earth Medicine Ways.
In shadow integration and somatic reclamation. In the archetypal wisdom of the Council of Eight, a framework I have developed and refined across sixteen years of working with women in circles, workshops, online courses, and annual retreats.
I am also, by my own description, a quantum physics geek. I understand intuitively that consciousness shapes reality. That when a woman meets her archetype and something inside her reorganizes, that is not metaphor. That is a real shift in how she sees, and therefore how she lives.
This is why the Medicine Doll is not a craft project.
She is a quantum event waiting to happen.
I walk this work alongside you. Not above you. Not ahead of you. Alongside.
I have been leading this Sanctuary Journey now for three years. Women return not because they have not finished, but because something real keeps happening here.
This is not distant teaching. It is a living space we enter together.
HOW MUCH TIME WILL THIS TAKE?
Most women worry about time. Here is the honest answer.
Most women spend thirty to forty minutes each week with the core content. The deeper work happens naturally throughout your days as you begin noticing differently, choosing differently, and relating to what is already happening around you in a new way.
Creative projects like your Medicine Doll come forth not from time demands, but true inspiration and a desire to create.
You cannot fall behind. You move at the pace that supports your season of life.
THE SPIRITUAL DEPTH OF THIS CONTAINER
This work is for women who feel themselves as energetic beings. Who understand, or are drawn to the idea, that we influence and create our experiences. Who resonate with archetypes, ritual, symbolism, and soul work.
Women who have been studying women's spirituality for some time. Who love women's ceremonies and rituals. Who love nature, Mother Earth, cycles, and the feminine. Who feel called toward the magical, mystical, unseen world.
This is a sacred, heart-centered container.
The energetic tone is as much a part of the work as the content.
If you feel yourself landing here, you are likely in the right place.

THE INVITATION
Something in you already knows. Not loudly. Not urgently.
But quietly.
There is another way to walk through this part of your life.
One that does not ask you to be more, do more, or become someone else.
One that asks only that you begin to recognize where you are, and trust that from there, something honest can grow.
